Zip up old style rubber boots - today?
So, I got tired of going to school and work in the nasty weather in leather boots - getting them soaked and my pants/jeans cuffs wet and salty. I tried basic rubbers and these were actually quite good in the light rain but the deeper snow and esp. the slush was still a real issue!
Lesson 1, old style rubbers are great, they work!
Lesson 2, I still needed something taller.
Could old technology help again? I looked around in the Army/Navy store and found 5 buckle rubber boots. They were not that quick to put on with the buckles and all but they solved the problem without a doubt! I then wanted something less dorky so I did a google search and found the Lacrosse front zip rubber boots. Not cheap but when I got them they were nice quality and the fit was just right.
Tips -
1) first, give them a try, you will be impressed, again, old technology works and works great.
1.5) get the right size, NOT too big.
2) keep the zipper clean with a toothbrush and use wax to lube it 3) if the fit is tight, use the old solution of a plastic bag over your sneaker or shoes
4) fold your jeans or pant leg over before zipping up
5) watch the wear pattern, when they get down, replace the boots with new ones with good traction.
5.5) watch the lining, replace the boots if it gets real worn but he Lacrosse boots have a quality liner which wears real well
6) wear the boots when you want warmer feet and ankles - even if it is dry and not that snowy (the boots keep out a ton of cold and wind!
7) tuck the boots under your jeans when it is not too nasty out.
