Good and bad
I was so excited to get these boots, especially after reading the other reviews and had really high hopes. They were delivered and I really loved them out of the package. They're very well made and even have the new leather smell. However, when I went to put them on, I knew the second that I tried to zip them up that it just wasn't going to happen. My feet are a size 7 and a half, but I got them in an eight just to make sure that they would fit up my calfs. Nothing doing! I'm a true size 12 in apparel and they didn't even fit half way up my calves. So I'm disappointed of course because now I feel fat, but I'm going to keep the boots anyway and just wear them under pants instead of skirts because they really are well made and very comfortable. Just be careful if you're not a size 6.

Very well made.
I`ve always been sceptical about buying shoes online, because it is hard to tell the quality and of course the fit, but I have to say these boots changed my mind. I had looked at other places trying to find leather boots like these and the price was just too much. They are pretty true to size but because of the pointy toe, it wouldn`t hurt to go 1/2 bigger.
I believe with some wear they will stretch some. Well worth the money!

Excellent - may well buy more
These are very nice boots, especially given the price. I got them from Amazon because Zappo's was out of stock at the time in my size, so I thought I might as well add a review here.

I already have eight pairs of shoes and boots from Moda Spana simply because I have size 12 feet, and Moda Spana are one of the few manufacturers making non-frumpy shoes in large sizes. I'm athletic, with 16" calves and have hell's own delight trying to find boots that will fit. I got these on the basis of the claim on the Zappo's web site that the calf measurement was 15.25". Such measurements are taken on smaller sizes, so I thought I'd give it a go. It turns out that they fit snugly, but fine, and are otherwise true to size. Zappo's claims that the shaft is 16.5" high, but it's really 16", even on a size 12.

If I had lots of choices in boots I probably wouldn't give these top marks, since they aren't everything that I would want, but the aspects of them that I find slightly sub-optimal might be big selling points for others. Here are a few key points:

- The sole is a very grippy synthetic sole. I'd much rather have a soft leather sole. My guess is that most people will probably like the synthetic sole, especially in inclement weather. I have to admit that Moda's synthetic soles are the best synthetic soles I've come across, and are the next best thing to leather in my opinion.

- The shaft would have been much nicer had it been two inches higher. Hey, I'm tall and why shouldn't I be able to get knee boots that really make it to somewhere near my knees?

- The heel is lower than I'd like. It's a practical height for day-to-day use, but if you like heels, or if you think that flats make your feet look like flippers then every half inch makes a big difference.

- The toe is longer than I'd like. Again this isn't a problem if you don't have large feet, but with a slightly different toe box shape these boots could have been an inch shorter, which would have suited me just fine.

All in all, though, these are keepers, and I may well buy a couple more pairs in different colors. I got basic black to start with.
