Unique, stylish, comfortable casual boots
Simples Postman Boot has a unique style and comfortable fit. The boot is anatomically shaped, wider at the toes, and narrower around the heel, like actual human feet. Uppers are a smooth leather with a matte, non-glossy finish, sewn to the midsole in the Norwegian Welt manner, with stitching running around the outside edge. Wide, flat laces run through four sets of eyelets equipped with brass grommets. A padded leather collar surrounds the ankle just below where my ankle bones poke out.

The interior of the boot is lined with a khaki colored fabric. Simples "PedBed" is a removeable insole, made of a textured and contoured rubbery cork material. Under the heel is a ventilated, teardrop shaped rubber insert. The top surface of the PedBed is unusual in that it is covered with raised bumps about 3/16" in diameter. These bumps prevent slippage of the foot, but do make putting the boot on a bit slower, as other reviewers have noted. I find that I must loosen the laces, and then pull with my toes to gain entry. Once on, the bumps are not uncomfortable, but provide a form of massage while walking about. The boots provided a good fit for my feet out of the box, comfortable without needing to be broken in.

Perhaps the most unusual feature of the Postman Boot is the sole. Made of crepe rubber about 1/4" thick, with another 1/4" or so under the rubber heel, so overall, similar in thickness to a bowling shoe. Unlike a bowling shoe, the bottom surface is covered with 18 firm rubber discs, 9 on the heel and 9 more under the front of the foot. These discs vary in diameter from the size of a dime to that of a nickle, and provide approximately an additional 1/8" of elevation. When standing or walking, the only part of the sole which touches the ground is these rubber discs. On smooth wet surfaces, such as water on a linoleum floor, this can lead to a slippery experience, so caution is advised. On soft surfaces, such as sand or snow, the discs serve to provide traction and leave a very distinctive footprint.
In sum, the Simple Postman Boot is comfortable with a unique style.
