Customer Reviews:
Review #1 Not what I'd hoped for in Sorels Sorels have always had a mystique for me, which probably contributed to my disappointment in these boots when they didn't meet my expectations. While they seem ruggedly built and are surprisingly light, two things really stood out that had me shipping them back.
1) They are very stiff (where they fit well enough). This might improve with use, but it was a bit surprising and uncomfortable.
2) They were too big for the size I ordered, a complaint I'd seen elsewhere before I bought these. I own probably a dozen pairs of shoes and boots, all size 11.5 and all fit my feet perfectly. The size 11.5 Sorels I bought were too big for me by at least 1/2 size, even while I was wearing thick wool socks. Slightly too wide and way too much toe room made these boots fit okay around the leg but very loose for half of my foot, and you can only tighten them so much.
So, I couldn't keep these boots. Keep in mind I'm not knocking Sorels in general - I'll probably buy Sorels again, but I'll definitely have to try them out before buying. Review #2 toasty, comfy toes! I last bought a pair of Sorel boots about 24 years ago for both my wife and I for spending time in the winter with my Dad who lives in North Western Wisconsin. They are standard wear up there...
My wife still has hers, mine lost little parts over the years, like threading clip, the collar fur started to rat out after about 15 years, but I'd wear them most of winter.
Well, when I saw these on Amazon, I bought a pair for both my wife and I, and can happily report they're great. Not the same materials as the older models which were all learther with fox fur collar at the top. These are made in China. The originals also had a slip out felt liner that could be replaced every few years, I think that added greatly to the endurance. But, I have a hard to fit foot, very wide. I bought these in a 14, and after wearing them for two days can say they fit great! Better than the last, which my feet would tire in because they were a bit restrictive.
I hope these last. They are comfortable and warm, we're currently been going through a cold spell here temp around 5 above in the day, and so far these are fine!! They are of course waterproof, too.
My wife loves her new pair as well.
