Great Walking Shoe

Super-comfortable shoes, great arch support, and well-worth the money. These are gorgeous sport shoes that look well with dress pants or pretty much any other outfit. They are not ultra-feminine, but stylish and incredible for your feet.

I had tendonitis in my left foot, and wearing these shoes is providing my foot the support that allows it to heal. The footbed of the shoe conforms to your foot over time, making the shoe more and more comfortable as time goes on.

I normally wear a European 39 or 40, or in US sizes an 8.5 Wide or 8.5C/D. I can surprisingly get away with a 39 in these shoes, and a 40 is definitely too big. The toe box is wider than it looks in the picture and very comfortable. So Dansko Calla runs more towards the small end of sizes.

The platform the shoe rests on isn't too high, but it's high enough that I wouldn't wear these shoes on a hike on uneven ground, as say, in the woods, or on a gravel trail. I would definitely wear this shoe anywhere and everywhere there is pavement or even ground---say on a walking tour of a city. They could be worn for hours and hours without discomfort.

They come in other colors, including spring colors. I have the black, and like them so much that I ordered a second pair to wear inside the house in coral.

Although the seem like heavy shoes when you pick them up, on your feet they are so light, and I actually feel lighter myself wearing them, as though I can walk much farther.

A note about Calla's: This looks like a shoe, but it is really a clog with some support for the back of your foot. However, when you walk, your foot is intended to slide up and out of the shoe a bit, like a clog. I cannot wear the other Dansko's because they don't have enough support for my feet and feel unsteady, but I can wear these Dansko's.

Another thing I like about Calla's that is different from other Dansko's is that the inside is smooth. This means that there is nothing to rub on the inside of your foot, because the shoe is not stapled there like other Dansko's. What an improvement!

They are my favorite shoes. Highly recommended.
